اولین گوشی صفحه لمسی که توسط اپل ساخته شده است آیفون نیست و در سال 2007 هم ساخته نشده است. ظاهرا اپل در دهه 1980 یک نمونه از تلفن ثابت با صفحه لمسی ساخته است. بسیار جالب است که به طرح اولیه ای که منجر به تولد آیفون شد نگاهی بیندازیم.

این تلفن سفید رنگ، دارای صفحه ای لمسی بوده که با قلم کار می کرده و نوعی نرم افزار حسابداری بر روی آن بوده که به وسیله ارتباط با مودم صورتحساب مشتری را محاسبه می کرده است و در سال 1983 ساخته شده است.این تلفن که توسط هارمتوت اسلینگر طراحی شده بود هیچ گاه به تولید انبوه نرسید. اسلینگر آلمانی-امریکایی یکی از مردان پشت صحنه Apple IIc بوده که از عوامل مهم ساخت اولین کامپیوتر قابل حمل در جهان است.
The Original Apple IPhone From Way Back In 1983
Apple have had huge success with the iPhone with tens of millions of users all over the world and widespread praise as a device that changed the way that the world thought about mobile phones. It turns out though that they actually had another go at a phone over a quarter of a century earlier and although the phone wasn’t fully touchscreen (you had to use a stylus) it was a signature white color but it was land line only and fairly bulky. Despite the phone being so old at this stage it is surprising just how modern the design looks and it is not a million miles away from some of the phones in offices to this day. It feels like a phone with an iPad attached and you could certainly see a use for something similar in a modern office. The images of the phone come from Stanford research labs who have a massive stock of Apple products and designs but until now they have been kept secret. Steve Jobs has always said that he is prouder of what they didn’t make than what they did because it helped them to keep focus but it would be interesting to see how far the iPhone could have gone had it been released earlier. You also have to wonder what other great products Apple could have been working on over the last few decades that never saw the light of day!
